Straight Outta Marriage — Oct 1-3, 2026
Straight Outta Marriage is a bold new dark comedy by Cairns playwright Kimberley Greaves.
When Clare announces her divorce, her sisters Rhea and Lou do the only thing they know how: plan a night out of pure debauchery to celebrate! The drinks are flowing, the itinerary is set, and nothing can derail the party… until a paint-and-sip instructor with second sight gives them a warning they’re not ready to hear.
From paint-and-sip prophecies to sticky dance floors at 3am, the trio stumble deeper into chaos. As the night unravels, Clare is thrown headfirst into a surreal collision of past and present where infertility, heartbreak and the pressure of womanhood smash into the dancefloor glitter.
Funny, filthy and a little bit feral, this original play by local playwright Kimberley Greaves, directed by Lillie McNamara, is a millennial flavoured night out filled with humour, questionable decisions and the uncomfortable reality of what happens when women’s healthcare lets us down.
Summon the gals, gather the prosecco and surrender to a night that will make you laugh at the irony, cringe at the all-too-familiar, and wonder: how the hell are we still putting up with this shit?
M 15+ — Contains coarse language and sensitive themes including women’s healthcare, infertility and child loss.
