A CLOSING FEW WORDS FROM 'I OUGHT TO BE IN PICTURES' DIRECTOR NARELLE SHOREY
‘I OUGHT TO BE IN PICTURES’. September 16 - 24 2022.
Now that play and set of ‘I Ought to be in Pictures’ have been put to bed, I would like to thank the committee for the opportunity to direct, what has always been, one of my favourite plays. As small cast plays always present them with a big workload, thankfully, this cast (including one newcomer) proved to be up to the task, making the most of Simon’s dialogue, bringing welcome laughter as well as a tear or two. I must admit to a little anxiety, lines wise, until the final rehearsals.
No production can achieve its best outcome without the work behind the scenes and this crew was top class. From the beginning every job was handled efficiently, but more importantly, the backstage atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and supportive. We received many compliments on the set, so great job there everyone.
It was wonderful to see so many appreciative audiences coming to our Rondo and I am so grateful to cast, crew, FOH, bar and anyone who helped make this possible. It proves what can be achieved when a group of volunteers work together, in good spirit, towards a common goal.
