Margaret 40’s to 50’s    Uni lecturer; earnest, assertive, judgmental

Peter 40’s to 50’s    Uni professor; kind, an appeaser

Conrad 50’s to 60’s    TV personality, environmentalist; egotistical, charismatic

Jacquie, 20’s to 30‘s    Former journalist, now Conrad’s pregnant wife; cynical, provocative

Stephen 40’s         Orthopedic surgeon; gloomy, opinionated

Penny 40’s        Artist and Stephen’s wife; upbeat, supportive

Alex 40’s        Lawyer; power-driven, adversarial

Vicki 30’s to 40’s    Alex’s wife, social climber; glamorous, ambitious

Justin 18 to 25        Conrad’s son; self-absorbed, idealistic

What’s it about?

Peter, a mathematician who is niceness itself, is in financial trouble because of his brother's bankruptcy. His neighbour Margaret decides to seek help from his friends who spend much of their time boasting about their wealth and prestige.

But while his friends happily take advantage of Peter's good nature in their own hour of need, how willing will they be to help him in his?

Set in the early 90’s, this play explores relationships, ambitions, wealth and ethics that remain relevant today.
