Front of House Volunteering Roster

Thank you for considering volunteering for Front of House (FoH) at the Rondo Theatre.

IF YOU'RE AN EXPRIENCED VOLUNTEER

Please note that you must volunteer for at least two shifts when you sign up for a Hot Seat Usher role. This is also appreciated when signing up for other roles, and as far as possible, please sgn up for at least two different types of roles. This will ensure that we have sufficiently trained volunteers to cover all roles at all times.

IF YOU'RE NEW TO RONDO VOLUNTEERING

The Scanner/Usher role for one or two nights during the run of a 'Season' production is the best thing you can do to start your theatre experience.  Following a 'training shift' you can choose to sign-up for other spots if you have a current Rondo Membership ($20 per yr).

As a Scanner/Usher you will work along side experienced Box Office and Hot Seat Ushers greeting and helping patrons find their seats.  This will involve scanning patrons tickets and generally assisting to keep the flow of patrons moving smoothly into the theatre.

Doing an Usher session is also a great way to have a refresher if you haven't volunteered for a shift in a while.  When you volunteer, please wear predominantly black, as far as possible, and wear closed-in comfortable shoes!  We do have black Rondo shirts available for volunteers to purchase if you should decide to volunteer on a regular basis.

The key responsibiliteis of the Hot Seat Ushers are:

1. Escort patrons safely to and from their seats, including handling any unexpected exits during the performance.
2. Observe the audience, and handle any issues eg illegal recordings, photography, disruption etc and handle accordingly.
3. Safely evacuate the audience in the case of emergency

The Rondo Management is working towards Hot Seat Ushers being 'accredited' in all aspects of the above.  Appropriate training will be provided before this is implemented and further details will be published in due course.

The Box Office roles are varied and include presentation of the foyer and amenities, ticket sales and bookings, Membership registrations, preparation and serving of Tea and Coffee at interval.

There is no limit on how many nights you can sign up for any of the roles.  You do need to be a current financial member to perform in the various Front of House roles.

Once your email address has been added to the Front of House contacts list, you will be sent an email advising you when a new performance roster is up online and ready to take your name and choice of shift during the production performances.
