Front of House Volunteer Roster at the RONDO

Glad you're interested in volunteering for Front of House (FoH) with the Cairns Little Theatre (CLT). Located in The Rondo Theatre, Greenslopes Street, Edge Hill.
Being a 'trainee' for one or two nights during the run of a ‘Season’ production, is the best thing you can do to start your theatre experience. Following that ‘training’ shift, you can choose to sign-up for any of the other spots if you have CLT Club membership ($20/yr).
Please set aside one night during the run of a season play for your trainee session. You will need to be at the Rondo to observe/assist the Box Office activities and then the Tea/Coffee prep and sales during interval.
While being a trainee you will ‘shadows’ the Box Office role and get information about being an Usher and also about staying through the play in the Hot Seat role. We ask all volunteers to give two nights during the run of a season play, and in two different roles.
In 2020 we will introduce an additional volunteer position for experienced personnel : Foyer Support. More information will be available about the duties of that role soon.
Your second night could again be as trainee (watching/working with someone else) or as an Usher only. You need to have done a trainee night and be a current CLT member ($20/yr) to perform the Hot Seat role.
A season play usually runs from the opening Friday night (8pm start) until the Saturday of the following weekend (excluding Sunday) – 8 performance nights.
That gives you 8 performances to volunteer on nights of your choice.
Approx times: Box Office & Trainee - 6.45 - 9.45
Hot Seat 7.30 - 10.30
Usher 7.30 - 8.00
If there is a ‘Fringe’ Production happening on the weekend (Thur-Sat) following the conclusion of the ‘Season’ play, you can be involved with FoH then too.
During Fringe plays, all tickets are one price and purchased at the door with Tea/Coffee available at interval. Seating is unallocated, so only the two Hot Seaters are required to collect tickets and to otherwise carry out their usual tasks.
We plan to have the 'Volunteers Roster' online through the website at least 2 weeks prior to opening night, so people can fill in their names digitally and be sent reminders about their commitments.
Once your email address has been added to FoH contacts, you will be sent an email telling you when a new roster is up and ready to take names.
